To Teach a Child

There was a time, many years ago, when I considered getting a teaching credential. Briefly. Ultimately, my interest in food, cooking, nutrition and food science led to a career in food product development, and later to my blog, Wheatless Foodie . Much later, when my daughter was in elementary school, it was my pleasure to be a parent classroom volunteer. Although I already respected teaching as a profession, having grown up with an aunt who was a teacher, I was frequently in awe of my daughter’s teachers. What a difficult job they had, with each student having different skill levels and abilities. They always managed to make it work, to engage their students in an ongoing series of activities that would result in learning. Now it’s Back to School time, and I just want to say “thank you” to all the teachers who bless our children’s lives and help shape the future of our world.
